How to get Admission?
Government of Gujarat State has started Centralized Entrance Test for admission to post graduate Master of Computer Application program (MCA) for all Universities and their affiliated Institutions which run AICTE approved Programs in Gujarat State.
The above Centralized Entrance Test will be known as Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) and will be conducted by MCA Centralized Entrance Committee constituted by South Gujarat University.
Format of CMAT
CMAT is a three-hour test. In 2012, it was conducted in a period of nine days (20Ė28 February) in two shifts at 61 locations in all over India.
The better of two scores will be used for admission for 2014-15
The question paper comprises four sections:
- Quantitative technique
- Logical reasoning
- Language comprehension
- General Awareness
There are 25 questions in each section. While each correct answer carries four marks, each wrong answer will carry one negative marking.
AICTE has now decided to conduct CMAT in Foreign Countries for facilitating eligible NRIs/PIOs and foreign nationals to appear in CMAT for seeking admission in institutions in India following CMAT merit list for 2014-15 under special provisions defined in AICTE Approval Process and against all vacancies left after completion of centralized admission in management institutions.
Graduates with 50% in any discipline
Final year students of Graduate Courses can also apply
General / OBC : Rs.1200 + Bank charges as applicable
SC / ST / PD : Rs.600 + Bank charges as applicable
In Foreign Countries : $125 + Bank charges as applicable Allocation of Seats.
Allocation of all seats in Government and grant-in-aid institutions and state quota seats in private unaided institutes shall be done by the CMAT Cell, 2009 of Gujarat University.
The management quota for private unaided institutions shall be 25% of their sanctioned intake. The admissions to this management quota seats shall be made by the managements of the private unaided institutions based on the principles of common merit list, inter se merit, transparency and any other guidelines issued by the Fee & Admission Committee for Professional Courses (Higher & Technical Education).
However, if some private unaided institutions want to have their management quota seats, fully or partially, to be filled by the CMAT Cell, the same will be done on request.
Candidates graduated from a University recognized and located in Gujarat State are eligible to appear for CMAT.
Candidates who have graduated in a 3-year course from a University outside Gujarat State but have passed Std. XII or its equivalent examination from a recognized school located in Gujarat State are also eligible to appear for CMAT.
The candidates must have passed Std. XIIth (HSC Examination) or its equivalent examination with Mathematics/Business Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects.
The candidates must have passed graduation in any discipline, including BCA course, from a University located in the State of Gujarat. Graduates who have done BCA from Universities of Gujarat will be considered eligible for admission to MCA, even if they have not taken Mathematics/Business Maths/ Statistics as one of the subjects at XIIth Std.
A candidate who has appeared at the final year (Bachelorís Degree) examination of any University recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (subject to condition 1 to 4) shall be treated as provisionally eligible for CMAT.
Non-resident Gujarati (NRG) candidates passing the qualifying examination from States other than Gujarat and Gujarati-NRI candidates shall be eligible for admission to management quota of private unaided institutes only. Such candidates are required to qualify in CMAT 2009 examination.
(a) Non-resident Gujarati candidates will have to produce documents such as school leaving certificate or birth certificate or passport of one of the parents to prove that the parent was born in Gujarat OR a domicile certificate from Gujarat in the name of father, mother or the applicant at the time of application. If the State Government stipulates production of any other document/s, the same shall have to be done.
(b) Gujarati-NRI candidates will be NRI candidates as per the Income-tax Act. Further they will be Gujarati candidates also and will have to produce documents as specified in (6 - a) above.
The wards of Kashmiri Migrants fulfilling the eligibility conditions 3 to 5 above may also apply. The domicile requirements as specified in 1 and 2 above will be waived
BCA + CMAT cleared student will get admission in direct MCA sem 3rd as Lateral Entry.
Reservation of Seats
Reservation shall be provided for as under (Subject to change based on government policy):
Reservation of seats for different categories shall be as per the policy of the State Government as stated hereunder:
- Scheduled Caste (SC) 7 %
- Scheduled Tribes (ST) 15 %
- Socially and Educationally Backward Class (SEBC) 27 % *
* (Including a widow candidate or orphan candidate belonging to any caste applying with relevant certificates issued by competent authority)
Selection for admission to MCA will be made on Merit.
Determination of merit for admission to MCA will be base on 100% written Test only.
Only English version of test paper will be supplied to candidates.
The candidates are required to submit their Application Forms complete in all respects to the offices mentioned for sale of applications before the expiry of the last hour and date prescribed. THE CANDIDATE IS REQUESTED TO SUBMIT THE APPLICATION FORM AT THE CENTRE WHERE HE / SHE HAS OPTED TO APPEAR.
The candidates will have option to choose the center for Written Test for CMAT / MCA from amongst the available centers.
The Gujarat Common Entrance Test (CMAT / MCA) will be conducted on the date and time prescribed in the form.
A candidate will have to produce the following original documents with certified copy before presenting himself / herself for counseling and admission at the final stage.
For admission to MCA, determination of merit will be based solely on the performance in the entrance test.
The logic for removing ties in the scores will be as under:
1. Higher score in the written test
2. Higher marks (total) in XIIth Std.
3. Higher marks (total) in Xth Std.
4. If there is still a tie, all such candidates will be given the same rank and the final rank will be determined at the time of counseling based on graduation percentage.
